Wes Harper: “The Asssassin”, Naked and Afraid Survivor

Wes Harper

The IT Pioneer and Survivalist Adventurer, Wes Harper.

Wes Harper bridges technology and survival, proving resilience in both worlds.

Wes Harper was born on February 22, 1970, in Washington, D.C., and grew up in rural Northern Virginia, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors through camping, fishing, and hunting. His parents instilled in him both a strong education and a deep connection to nature.

At 26, Wes founded LightWire, Inc., an IT company in Raleigh, North Carolina, which he still owns and leads today. The company has grown to serve hundreds of clients worldwide, with a team of 17 employees.

Now living at Lake Gaston, N.C., with his wife Molly and their five grown children, Wes continues to balance business success with his passion for the wild. In 2013, he and Molly discovered the show Naked and Afraid—a spark that would change his life. After years of watching, Molly playfully signed him up in 2017, and to their surprise, Wes received a call from the show’s casting director the next day—launching his unforgettable adventure into survival television.

Wes shared about:

  • Why mental toughness matters more than physical strength, and that success starts with mindset.

  • Embracing discomfort and fear as growth opportunities.

  • Failure as a part of learning; every challenge builds resilience and self-belief.
