Jay Demerit is an American retired soccer player and former USMNT World Cup Soccer Player MLS.

Jay Demerit is an American former soccer player renowned for his role as a center back, began his soccer journey at the UIC Flames during his college years. Despite his stint in the Chicago Fire Premier development squad, he wasn’t selected in the Major League Soccer draft, which led him to venture to England in search of a club.

His initial stints with non-league sides Southall and Northwood preceded his breakthrough signing with Watford in the Championship league in 2004. During his tenure at Watford spanning six seasons, Jay showcased his prowess in 211 appearances, notably contributing to their triumph in the 2006 Football League Championship play-off final.

He played pivotal roles in the US squads that clinched the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and finished as runners-up in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. Additionally, he participated in the 2007 Copa América and notably contributed to the team’s efforts in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
