A few years ago, Trish had no female friends willing to join her on hikes—most felt overwhelmed or underprepared.

Tired of going solo, she decided to create the community she wished for.

• Creation of Women in the Wild. Frustrated by the lack of hiking partners, Trish founded “Women in the Wild” in 2022 as a private Facebook group to connect women passionate about outdoor adventures. Despite slow initial growth, she persisted and now organizes regular events, fostering a supportive community.
• Viral Social Media Growth. In January 2024, a New Year’s-themed Instagram reel showcasing past events went viral, skyrocketing her follower count from 1,000 to 10,000 overnight.
• Future Plans and Sustainability. Her long-term goal is to grow the community while maintaining its inclusive, low-barrier model.
