Espen Fadnes: A Freefall Professional

A Wingsuit World Champion, Espen Fadnes.

Espen Fadnes

Espen Fadness is a freefall professional.

Espen Fadnes grew up near the Troll Wall, in Norway, the son of a rock climber. He found himself standing on many Norwegian exit points from a young age, most of them before they were opened, and later saw images of base jumping at the Troll Wall. As such, he became familiar with the sport quite early in his life. When he later started skydiving (2000) and base jumping (2001), he says it felt natural to search for new challenges around the area where he had climbed so much.

Espen was the first FAI World Cup winner, took Bronze at the FAI World Championships in 2016 and Gold at the 2018 World Championships, is a multiple Norwegian Champion. He has competed well in the Red Bull Aces and many other performance events. He enjoys competition and says it provides him with a valuable reality check, and a venue to meet people who inspire him to improve his flying constantly. In Espen’s words, “It’s been ups and downs in both projects and comps. I’ve won some and lost some, but the most inspiring thing is to put on the newest suit from Squirrel and see how much closer we have come to actually fly. And we will, for sure. In a few years, we will soar on the winds like paragliders, and I’ll do everything I can to be prepared to share the sky with rad pilots when it happens.”

Espen shared about:

  • How he started to get interested in wingsuit flying.
  • Becoming a world champion wingsuit flyer.
  • What inspires him the most to keep on improving.
